Painting over prepainted parts (caterham JPE)

Hi, I'm currently working on THE caterham JPE and I'm giving it a different colour than that horrible yellow. I've soaked the plastic parts in isopropyl alcohol, but the paint doesn't really comes of.
Now my question: is it possible to prime OVER the prepainted parts and just carry on, or is the risk for a badpaintjob to great? I won't take risks with this kits, so I'm only going to try this methode if enough people are sure it would work.
I would use tamiya primer over it.

THX

Re: Painting over prepainted parts (caterham JPE)

There are few solutions to try.

Sanding the paint (not all of it of course) but to get a bit thiner coat, prime it and repaint. Since it is 1/12 a bit thicker paint won't do much harm.

Brake fluid, work for me every time, just let it soak and clean the parts up, wash them with soap and let them sit in that soapy water for a day. I have never had a problem with plastic or metal parts.

Third solution would be combo of previous two, I wouldn't just put primer on original paint since it would be to thick.

Never the less that is what I would do but maybe someone has some better ideas.
