1994 grand am brake problems

I have a 94 grand am I bleed the rear abs bleeder then the front bleeder,after I started car and shut off car 5 times as it says in manuel then proceed to bleed back right wheel then left rear then right front then left front.When I do the abs do I have to have key on?Still have no pedal.Can it be the master cyl.bypassing? Tried all that I can think of.Any help would be appreciated

No need for the key on while bleeding.
So what your saying is you hav bled them at the ABS Mod, and at the wheels ?

If you hav bleed them at the wheels, and still hav no pedal with lots of travel, and you are positive that all the air is out of the brake system, then your master cylinder is probly bad.

Just make sure you bleed it properly. Sometimes turning the bleeder valve too much will alow air to get in the threads of the bleeder valve instead and you will never be able to remove the air out of the system.

When you bleed your brakes, I would suggest to get two large bottle of Brake fluid. If someone can assist you pushing the brakes then it would be better. Ignition switch OFF. Have them slowly pump the brakes a couple of times until it's hard even if it is near the floor and held it there. Then you loosen the rear bleeder valve and quickly close it. Careful brake fluid will be everywhere (I suggests to use a rag to catch those brake fluid). Have them slowly pump again until it's hard and open the brake bleeder valve and quickly close. Try bleeding one more time. Check your brake fluid level and top it off.

Do the same thing on the other rear bleeder valve and then the two front bleeder valve.

Ok here's the procedure:

1. Start the car, don't touch the brakes. Wait for the abs light to go off, should take about 10 seconds. Repeat this 5 times.

2. Open the rear bleeder on the abs module, have someone press the brake pedal and hold it until fluid comes out. Close the bleeder. Repeat until there is no air coming out.

3. Same procedure for the front bleeder. It helps to have a short length of clear hose going into a container to catch brake fluid, it makes it easier to see the bubbles.

4. Bleed the right rear wheel.

5. Left rear wheel.

6. Right front wheel.

7. Left front wheel.

Keep checking the fluid level in the master cylinder, don't let it run dry as you will have to start this whole procedure over again.

Good luck, its a pain to do it.
