tune up question

i have a seemingly dumb question about it. but since this is the internet, i don't actually know any of you, so i can't feel too embarassed about asking. anyway, how can you feel the difference after you've had one done? does it run smoother? do you accelerate better? stuff like that. thanks.

For the most part, unless your replacing ignition parts to eliminate a problem, you'll feel very little difference afterwards.
However, my last tune-up did reveal a little more pep but, that faded quickly (more like got used to it).

Usually you dont "feel" a difference right away. Usually its "preventative maintanance" and you will notice that down the road, your car wont be falling apart and probably will run smother than if you didnt do the tune ups.

after a complete tune up you may notice smoother accelleration, smoother idle, better gas mileage, stuff like that. the difference is not gonna be a kick in the pants or anything though. even if you don't feel a difference, you are still doing preventative maintainence and hopefully preventing future issues from arising.

Ever situation is a little different.
But if you do not do it you will feel it for sure.
Gas mileage and engine living longer is one reason for a good tune up.
Engine not running right leds to many things.

Depending upon how long the truck has been neglected, and depending upon just how much you actually replace, you might feel nothing up to feeling like it is a new truck. If you do it right, you should notice gas milage increase at a minimum.

I'd start with the basics. Plugs, wires, distributor cap, rotor, fuel filter, air filter, PCV valve and a big bottle of Techron fuel system cleaner.

I'm usually replacing tune-up parts before anything goes wrong, so I never feel a difference..

Just remember to do a COMPLETE tuneup including:

Fuel filter
Spark plugs AC Delco
Cap & Rotor
Air Filter
PCV Valve
