Does it have to be a crate motor or can it be a low mileage used LS1?.

You can call this place. They are only 15 miles away from you and have a ton of LS1

a brand new LS1 crate motor from gm costs around 5 grand (5,495 last i checked). a better, cheaper option would be to check out the place john suggested or check out ebay, which has losts of engines and engine/trans packages.

That salvage yard I listed only cause its so close to the other poster but the thread starter I am sure has local salvage yards I can search for that engine for him but yes, salvage yard is financially, definitely going to be the best bet here.

Re: Where can I find a cheap LS1 Crate Engine?

all the local ones around here are worthless. i did find an LT1 corvette once but it was in a flood so the wiring harness was shot. but its still worth a shot to look in your own local yards.

I bought the Corvette LT1 Engine that is currently in my car for $550 complete with everything and only had like 40K on it. It was only like a 40 minute drive from a house too.

I've seen LS1 around here go for 800 and 850 with around 60K and they came with a 90 day warranty.

Japanese imports are always more parts wise because of the JDM. Here in america, finding a Chevy/Pontiac part is the greatest thing in the world.
