Bs?
Ok, so im new to the forums and I was just checking out your guys opinion on something. This guy I know through a friend claims to have just purchased a 2002 wrx for 12,000. So first off im like ok, good for you. So he keeps talking.... apparently it has had a V6 vetec engine drropped into it with rouch racing parts.... haha this kid pauses while talking to my girlfriend and then continues to add that it has a supercharger aswell. Then says that the base Vtec in the car has 240 horse and he says that the supercharger and any of the rouch racing parts add another 100hp. The final claim for the HP is set around 350... So my question is... BS?

Re: Bs?
Well, first off, a V-tec is a honda engine. second; $12K for a 350hp impreza is a little cheap. 350 IS attainable, but most likely his does not have that much. I hope this helps.

Re: Bs?
Rousch make parts for Fords.
Why would you supercharge a car which is already turbocharged? The '02 WRX engine is a 2.0 flat-4 As mentioned, Vtec is from Honda and is their valve timing system. If you have to ask if it's BS, you need to learn a lot about cars too

Re: Bs?
Any '02 WRX to be had for $12k is either a salvage title with something seriously wrong, or it has well over 100k miles already somehow.
FYI: Subaru's variable valve timing is called Active Valve Control System (AVCS). Not as sexy sounding a name as VTEC, but whatever.

Re: Bs?
haha, ok it doesnt look like I was clear. The claim was that he dropped a new engine into it. That engine "has" all the stuff mentioned above.... haha I know about the rest... I know that its bullshit, i was just looking for some extra backup.... ill believe it when I see it.

Re: Bs?
He claims he dropped a supercharged V6 into it? That's even bigger BS then the original claim. There is no way a Subaru would accept an I4 or V configuration engine due to the engine bay layout. You could shoehorn the H6 from a Outback or SVX into the Impreza, but even then you would have to make some serious structural mods.

Re: Bs?
Ok, a little more detail... He told my girlfriend that
1. its a "small block" engine 2. is a 3.4L V6 3. and it has a super charger... all the claims of the first post are still in it.... now I start to wonder, because i drive a gtp (3.8L) could a 3.4 liter engine even fit into that car? Let alone with a sc ontop of that...pictures to come soon. |

Re: Bs?
with an SC and "racing parts"... i cant really find a stock wrx for 12K.... let alone a +300Hp wrx...and an LS1 couldn't be all that cheep could it? i cant wait to see it tho... if he does actually somehow have that for 12k, ill shake his hand. (pictures hopefully at the end of the nightish.)
