Amp comments

I'm looking at three possible amps to get in the near future.
1. PPI D3000/1
2. SPL DK-3400D
3. Hifonics XX-Colossus2

They will be used to push a 18" Kicker solox in a 10 cu.ft. ported box in the rear cargo area of a jeep cherokee. I will be having 2 Optima red top batteries 1 for the engine and a second in the back, high output alt., and 1/0 gauge wiring running off the engine batt. and for the amps. Question is what do you guys think of those 3 amps, I am personally leaning towards the hifonics due to the higher power output but the other two I can get for a little more than half the price of the hifonics amp. And if you have any suggestions for an amp that can push over 3k peak and under a grand let me know.

Re: Amp comments

Actually for the 10 cubic foot ported box kicker recommends a max of 4500w. For the 12 cubic foot spl box is where kicker recommends 10kw max but nothing more than i think 56 hz.

Re: Amp comments

For that sub they'll be needed. I'm planning on when I get everything to start off with the 10 cubic foot ported box and then when I get some more money buying a second sub and another amp or two and rebuilding the box to the 12 cubic foot ported SPL box they have and see what I can do to the windows of the car. I bet I can prove the myth true that mythbusters couldn't prove that a car can be partly destroyed by a stereo alone. I know when I try I'm going to have a video camera recording it to have proof.

Re: Amp comments

Yah and then as time goes on probably will be getting into the extreme vehicle mod's and going bigger and louder. But to start with going to have 1 18, decided to go with that to totally desimate all the people around here that have a couple of 10's cranked up and all you can hear is distortion.

Agreed. I care only about SQ. Well actually I prefer SQ as loud as possible. If I can hear the outside world with the windows down at 70 mph, then it's not loud enough, but if I can't make out the words it's useless. Hey lets' pump 2000 watts to a speaker just to hear it make shitty sounds!! Fags. I like to know what the hell I'm listening to. Only reason I'm worried about how loud it is is to drown out all the little 16 year olds bumpin rides. Mang.

Re: Amp comments

I sen a sig line in one of these forums, it said "SQ is a state of mind, and from what I have seen most people are mindless"

What you are describing is SQL ....... loud AND sounds good. Difficult to achieve but well worth it IMHO.
