Power Door Lock Actuators
The lock/unlock function of both the driver side and passenger side power door lock switch and also the key fob only work the driver's door. The passenger door, two sliding doors and rear hatch can only be locked/unlocked manually.
Does this mean I have to replace the door actuator in the passenger door, the two sliding doors and the rear hatch? Or is there a problem in the driver's side switch that affects the other power door locks? I have seen the threads about the universal power door lock acuators and will go down that path if needed. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Rich 2000 Windstar SE Last edited by RDCragg; 08-29-2006 at 08:19 PM. |

Re: Power Door Lock Actuators
sounds more like a switch or relay some were. Most problems with the Fords actuators are on the front mostly. You make have to pull out a volt meter to see if power is getting to them..

Re: Power Door Lock Actuators
[hijacking the thread - because it's relevant]
i have a 96 Windstar with power locks (is that redundant? i don't know if that's stock] and the power lock for the passenger side has recently started making an odd noise - sometimes - when it is engaged. it sounds like grinding gears. the lock still works but it sounds like the motor is spinning instead of clicking... i am wondering if this something that will progressively get worse and eventually mean that the power lock on the passenger side will stop working... has anyone seen this before? -E |

Re: Power Door Lock Actuators
A bad actuator will make a funny buzzing or grinding noise. It may last a week or a year. Eventually it needs replaced.

http://doorlock2.blogspot.com This will work if you have an actuator type and rod assembley. Save money as well.. Your wire colors will most likley differ..But not hard to locate with a 2.00 probe test light. |
