quick gas question

So as some of you may know we are getting a storm down here in south florida, so unfortunately EVERYONE rushed to the gas stations and drained them dry, so now theres no gas and if there is i'd have to wait in line for an hour or more. my GTP is on all the way on empty, when things get back to normal at the gas stations, i have red gas containers filled with regular 87, i was wondering if i can put regular 87 oc just to get me over to a gas station so i can fill up on the 93 oc. is it ok to mix it as well? let me know. last i remember it is ok to do this once in a while but i just wanted to make sure. thanks!

Re: quick gas question

There shouldn't be an issue Mike, as long as you don't hammer on it. I've heard of people doing that all the time with their GTP's (I wouldn't if I had one, but many do) with no ill effects.

Re: quick gas question

just do not put in a lot. If you have some octane booster or lucas additive put it in there with it. I would not go driving around on a full tank of 87, but you will be fine just to get over to the gas station.

Re: quick gas question

I second the opinion as well, just watch your RPMs. The less they ae, the less heat, the less risk. So, if you can handle driving like my grandmother, I doubt there will be any harm.

For the 1998 model year it is supposed to be 18 gal. or 68 liters (17.952 gal).

Re: quick gas question

just want to let you all know we made it through, the storm wasnt as bad as everyone expected but it was a good practice run, i was able to fill my car with 93 oc again and the gas situation seems back to normal here. thanks for all your advice once again!

We are glad to hear you made it OK. Was it as bad as the media said. Funny how everything gets back to normal one hour after a storm passes.
