Alternator

How much should a rebuilt alternator cost me? Went south on me on the road 200 miles from home in upstate NY. I limped to a service station and the bandit wants to charge me $350 to install. I figure I can get one and put it in myself, I have tools with me. I have a 97 4wd and it has that bracket on the back. By the way 95,000 I guess it was time. Should have done it when I did my belt tensioner.

Re: Alternator

New alternator about $155 + core charge. Rebuilt about the $140. Fairly easy to install, should take about 35-50 minutes if you have the tools and adequate light. Good luck, and let us know how it turns out.

Re: Alternator

I bought a remanufactured alternator at Murrays Auto last year with a LIFETIME WAR for 99 bucks (WITH CORE), and 20 min to swap them out...

Re: Alternator

If you have done it before, it only take 20 minutes tops.
