Stage II SRT-4

Now before you go calling me a big bully, this was with me on low boost and in full street trim (w/ DR's), I ran 12.4@111 the day prior at Milan. So maybe it still wasn't fair, but ya never know what you're gonna get when you see an SRT-4 rolling on stickies

So I was up at the Woodward Dream Cruise last week, had a blast btw. I'm cruising back to my buddy's house, following my bud in his Magnum. We come up on a red SRT-4 with 15" on the front w/ stickies (turned out to be DR's, couldn't tell while we were cruising). So I'm thinking they might be up for a run. My buddy pulls up next to them, they both give it a few revs, but no one really seems to be racing, just kind of jumping on it and getting off again. Finally, my bud moves over and I pull up, before I get a chance to honk or downshift or anything, the SRT-4 takes off. That's cool, I'll chase. So I floor it, wait for the kickdown (normally I would manually shift to 2nd and be ready, but didn't have time, just reacted and floored it) and then I take off. By the time I kicked down to 2nd and started to move they probably had a car on me. I made up the car, pulled even, and then pulled about a car on them. I was pulling pretty hard so I let off, no sense in wasting the gas, or going insanely fast on a public street. Not sure how fast I was going, I was watching the road, but probably 80 or so (started at around 30). We pulled over and talked to the guys, they were cool. They had no idea what the car ran, said he did high 13's stock, he had Stage II and a 50 shot, but he didn't run the bottle against me. I told him I think that would have been a much better run. His buddy tried to say that they didn't need the bottle they were doing pretty good without it. But I was pulling 'em pretty hard. Oh well, it was a fun run anyway, I hadn't had any street action in a long time. I would have liked to run him from a dig with him on the bottle, but I'll take what I can get.

I've got the other pulley back on now and I'll be up in Philly in Sept for work, already have a few runs lined up, I'll let ya know how it goes, and hopefully get some video.

Nope, I live in VA, just drove up there for the Dream Cruise

Thanks, it was nice to get a fresh kill, even if it wasn't an even match (I always prefer a close race to a blowout). I have some grudge matches to take care of in Sept, hopefully I can get 'em on video.

Re: Stage II SRT-4

i wish you would have told me you were going, i would have met up with ya for a bit. Personally i dont like the woodward dream cruise, the street is too small, speeds are to slow, way to many people.

I'll be back next year And I'm coming up earlier in the week next year. I came up on Friday, went racing at Milan, hit Woodward on Sat and then went home on Sun. We were up at the north end of Woodward (I think that's the Pontiac area?), it wasn't too crowded, plenty of burnouts, I went cruising a few times and just turned around before it got to the really crowded section where it was a crawl. Next year I want to do my cruising during the week so on Sat I can walk down to the crowded area and check out some of the displays. Overall it was a blast tho. As soon as I get the vids from my burnouts, I'll post 'em up

Re: Stage II SRT-4

yeah i went on friday night to woodward and cruised for a bit, but it just seemed way to crowded to even bother trying to get out, park, and walk to a bar or something. I think everyone was street racing by the detroit zoo, i didnt go there though, no need for a ticket.

How did you like milan? Personally i think the track sucks but its the closest thing to me, everything else is like a 2+ hour drive one way.

Re: Stage II SRT-4

Those staged II roaches can move man! I ran one a while back and barely made it out with a car lead but then I looked up thier 1/4 mile times and figured Id save the post till after I actually hit the mid 13's on the track.....other wise I'll get a bunch of BS flags.
makes me wish I still had my old Sartie, woulda made a fun as hell daily with the Mopar package.

Your 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is the 92nd out of the 315 that were made that year. Only 21 of which are exactly identical.

Milan wasn't bad. I was happy with the times I ran there, but not overly impressed by the facilities. But then again, I've gotten spoiled since I lived 20 mins from Atco for four years. They have a great track with great prep, the pit area is all paved, just a very nice facility. But Milan wasn't bad, I've been to worse, much worse LOL

Im selling the Starion Geoff, need the money to get the wife a new car.
Shes between a a 350Z or a Solstice GXP/ Saturn Redline or Evo 9.
The Starion is taking up too much money and too much time. It will be another 7 grand before it can hit 300 whp. I rather spend the 7K on a new car for her.
it was fun at first but everything on that poor car is broken or breaking. Sucks for me but I gotta think logically here.

nice kill....but yes a little expected....he would have put up a better fight if he did use the bottle.....but just a little info on the s2 skittles.....most of them pull alot timing if not properly tuned....and most of them arent tuned...they just think that they could bolt them up and go...which technically they can but wouldnt be peaking its power......alot of s1 bolt on skittles are faster then s2 because of how rich the s2 runs.....enough rambling once again good shit and keep up the good work...you have a beast there....

Thanks. Yeah, I've seen some crazy fast SRT-4's, they have some wicked potential. Normally I wouldn't have even posted it, but I've been in a dry spell lately and it was just nice to get a race Next month I should have some good ones to post.
