New clutch, problem???
Got my car last night... got the clutch installed... I saw that everything was done right... but this stage II clutch doesn't seem to be fully disengaging...
there was enough fluid in the lines... I saw a clutch rod extension on ebay... will this help me??? I'm pretty sure the clutch isn't full disengaging... b/c the car doesn't wanna start in gear, and it grinds going into first/reverse... but if I rev the car, it will go into gear... the pedal has pressure, it just doesn't seem like it's moving far enough to fully release (clutch releases at floor)

Re: New clutch, problem???
I really don't think that the new clutch should release at the floor... isn't there some kind of adjustment?
I also found some of the problem with the shifter... there's a rubber hose blocking the shifter's path from 1-2...

Yea i am having the same problem!!!
The pedal must be pushed almost into the floor for it to disengage!

Re: New clutch, problem???
This is almost ALWAYS one of two things. Clutch hydraulics not bled properly, or flywheel step not cut to the correct height. Rebleeding the hydraulics is the easiest to do, so do that first. Recutting the flywheel of requires going through the whole job again
Did you haave it machined when the clutch was installed, and if so, what height was it cut to, and what brand is this clutch or what step do they recomend? It's usually around 610 thousands. As a last resort, you can try adjusting the clutch pedal rod. This should not normal need any changes. The clutch pedal rod is not there to set engagement point, but to set the position of the piston in the master cylinder. In my humble opinion, the proper way to adjust this is to adjust the rod "out" (or make it "longer") one turn at a time until the pedal starts to "pump up" on you as you drive around. You'll feel this as a very stiff pedal, no free play, with lots of vibration, but after a few hours or overnight it will go back to normal. This is very bad When you reach this point go back one turn, and one more for good measure. Then leave this rod alone You can probably find a lot more info about all of these points by searching using my user name as a filter, I know I have posted about these things excessively over the years. I hope you get it sorted out, without having to pull the tranny again. Good luck

Re: New clutch, problem???
Ok, thanks for that info... I had already found the VFAQ, and attempted to adjust the clutch (yeah, I had the flywheel machined)...
Once I adjusted the clutch rod, it worked fine... no problem with the hydraulics (had those problems in my Stealth...) but that little rod made all the difference... Thanks again

Re: New clutch, problem???
Cool. Just watch for pedal pump up, you can ruin a motor or at least the TOB if you let that go for too long. If it stays normal, consider it fixed.

Re: New clutch, problem???
so far, it's stayed the same... I need to tweak it a little, as it is releasing kinda high, but working perfectly...
