Re: toon style subaru impretza WRX

Looks really cool, but I'm not in love with the 3 spokes, and the right light could look a little better.

Re: toon style subaru impretza WRX

The far side of the rear spoiler could be lowered a bit, but good job for only 2 hours of work! I wish I could get some of my stuff put on a t-shirt... B

Re: toon style subaru impretza WRX

well, i like it, but its too "grey". i would add some white spots/lines where reflections are, because that would really make the car POP!

Re: toon style subaru impretza WRX

you post a lot of works... but they are all "quick" "5min sketches"... its just kind of stuff that i think you should keep for yourself, learn from it.. learn what to do and what not to do...

Do one proper work, spend 25 hours on it... Not from start to finish of course, but just do one proper one (like Alex, Canay or Me for example)... and post it.

You should work a lot, learn from your mistakes, trying not to repeat them... thats the only way. ... Do a lot, 100, or 1000 drawings, not only cars, everything you see, learn and learn..

My point is, if you are in a rush trying to do a car drawing... its not going to bring you anywhere.. its a waste of time.

If i posted all of my "learning" works, Id probably be banned from this forum for "flooding" . Dont get me wrong, you really are going in the right direction... just try not to repeat the same mistakes... study perspective.. learn and understand... and draw as much as you can from still life.. no photos, tracing or grid... that will help a lot.

Its just my advice.. you may agree with me or not.. your choice.
Well, its the way Im doing it, being a student of one of Moscow's design uni's, Im not always happy with my work, but I always try to learn from my mistakes. I think my last work shows it .

no, lol .. I mean 25 hours spent on the pic. It can be done in a week or a month.
My point was just that , the more time you will spend on it, the better it will turn out, and in the end you will feel better. Try it

Re: toon style subaru impretza WRX

It's a good start for a toon.
The proportions work for me, but your reflection seem a bit too confusing.
In the toon world, you set the drawing rules, just try to make sure all parts of the image
follow the same rules.

The one big change I would make is to add a "stronger" outline around the whole shape.
Helps to better define the image. Bold line work helps to make the toon standout.

Slap some tracing paper on top of it and have another go
Most of my toons go thru 5-6 drafts before I scan in the image for the vector work.

If you get tired of it after a few hours of doodling, then put it away for a day or two,
then go back at it again.
I do this often, and usually shift around between several projects all the time.
Get bored with one, then just jump to the next.

Just keep on drawing, it's the best way to improve.

Try working on several pieces to avoid getting bored. Just switch between two or three drawings.
