Car build up
I posted this here since when ever anyone posts anything like this in other forums they are told to search. I have and I still can't find the answers really. I find alot of conflicting answers however.
My build up is going to look like this when I'm done: Evo 3 16g FMIC 550-6xx injectors dsmlink Now the question is in what order is it safe to get them... For example I had a evo 3 16g sitting here but I gave it and the o2 housing to a friend to take back home when he goes (in 2 weeks) and port it for me. Which means I can't do the turbo for 2 weeks at least. When I get the turbo can I run it without the new injectors/dsmlink and just simply the 190lph walbro fuel pump I'm putting in this weekend? Or do they all need to go on at once? I was looking at one of the ebay fmic. Specifically this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/DSM-2nd-GEN-95-9...QQcmdZViewItem Would it be okay to mount that with the stock turbo still on? Or is it way to big and I'm going to have massive turbo lag with the larger intercoller to fill now? Is this the intercoller that was going with the big group buy a bit back? It seemed to work for everyone then so I figured I'd try it. I'm just not sure of the order I can do this or if I should do it all at once. Any Advice would be handy.

Re: Car build up
You could do the turbo with your stock injectors and the 190 pump, just don't drive it too terribly hard until you get the new injectors in it. Then I would get the DSMLink and the FMIC and piping last.

Re: Car build up
Yeah, you can put the turbo in, just dont get hard into boost.
If you are getting DSMlink, you might as well go with larger injectors. Like say, 850-950cc injectors. They will work just fine and you probably wont have to upgrade injectors ever again. Easier to upgrade once then it is to upgrade twice. Anyways, you can put the turbo in, then I would order DSMlink, then injectors, then the FMIC. But if you are going to get 850-950cc injectors, you might want to order them the same time you order DSMLink that way you can tell Tom to set the default to whatever injectors you get so if your car loses power then you dont have to reset all your settings to get your car to run. |

Re: Car build up
okay so i decided to mount the turbo up as soon as I get it back.
This is going to sound dumb but with injector size won't effect fuel efficiency? Is it just a matter of cutting them back to normal level's then with DSM link? Sorry this is all kind of new to me.

Re: Car build up
It will not affect anything.
I have 1600cc injectors in my car. Last night I started the car naturally aspirated and drove to the store like that cause one of my IC pipes broke and I needed to get to the store. Due to the GM maf basically being right next to the throttle body. I can run the car without intercooler pipes or even without the turbo and it will run like it was meant to be like that. Fuel mileage is just fine. |

Re: Car build up
For some reason I thought that was funny....I would go link, injectors, turbo, FMIC. Thats how mine will go together except I will be keeping the turbo thats on there so I am going to run the IC while I am rebuilding the motor. |

Re: Car build up
just wanted to make sure you have a boost controller before you put on that turbo, and a boost gauge just to make sure your ok. I KNOW IT SAYS IT IN YOUR MODS LIST. but sometimes they aren't on.

Quote:
. Seriously though, you do not need a MBC/boost to do those mods. Obviously to make more power, you will need to turn up the boost but you dont need it to use the turbo. Actually, I would say wait on the MBC/boost guage (if you dont have it already) until after you get the hang of tuning on stock boost.
