Revell F430 WIP.

Ok, this is my first WIP thread from about 1 year absense from the hobby - so take it easy on me...I am a newbie

I decided to do this one more of a out-of-box project not to make it too complicated for my first model. I started doing the engine and just did basic coloring, no wiring or fine detailing yet - just basic paint.

I actually painted the air intake pleniums with bright red gloss pain, rather then the prototypical cracle dimple flat red finish of any Ferrari - I took an artist liberty with it.

body - painted with Tamiya light gun metal metllic and buffed....repeatedly...and micropolished, etc.

body with engine proped in there...

what do you think?

Re: Revell F430 WIP.

I haven't really done any pre-fitting yet - but the engine appears to fit together just fine. Its Revell, so I expect a little fiddling around with the fit.

Thanks for a warm welcome Oli! As far as the rims, I was going to re-work Revell's kit rims a little, perhaps in dark metallic graphite or black. Like I said, I have been trying to do this one more or less out-of-box build... As I get more comfortable again and as my tools start to get here, I am going to be more interested in starting some super-detailed projects.

I have purchased the following kits and they are on my list to do next:
1. F430 Challenge - full detail/superdetail
2. 575 SuperAmerica
3. 612
4. Mercedes G230 (Oli you inspired me) - as Drakkar rally truck.

This will keep me busy for a while.

Regards,

Paul

Wow that gunmetal looks just like mine which was painted with the real Ferrari Grigio Silverstone, looks really good, I think that it makes the car look really good as it sort of fits it looks meaner in a way

Re: Revell F430 WIP.

Looking good so far. I'm looking forward to seeing this come together. Even if it's not infused with your regular amount of detail, it will be infused with your awesomeness. Keep it up!

Re: Revell F430 WIP.

That is going to be one sweet Ferrari, I've always liked that color. I'm doing my second Ferrari now, an f50. I especially like your detail on the motor, very nice. Can't wait to see the final build.
