Soo... I'm stumped. Car still misfires, tore alot apart and found this.

So yea... on stock wires, stock coil pacs, delco plugs, my car still misfires and my mufflers always seem to have a nice amount of black carbon build up on them. I decided to tear into a few things tonight looking for bad grounds, or anything that looked outta place... I then stumbled upon this....

Obviously its a vaccume line, but does anyone know what it goes to? I'm thinking maybe the FPR? I am going to continue to rip more apart since i have never been able to get this deep to clean. Probably down to the TB and clean that up a bit. I have been getting extremly bad gas milage since last year. I've already scowered my repair manuals to see if they say anything about it, but nope. Can't do anything tonight about it repair wise since my job is closed.

Any help? Thanks guys!

Re: Soo... I'm stumped. Car still misfires, tore alot apart and found this.

is the small blue wire harness thingy, running parrell with that mystery hose, is that your oxygen sensor that goes in your air intake? b/c...if it is then you know where that leads, so you can only guess the other one leads to the same place...and what goes into the throttle body...Air and Fuel right?...so...and obviously if there is a leak somewhere you'll lose gas mileage...so This is my being a dumbass and just re-evaulating my stupid guess, lol. Hope it helped.

Re: Soo... I'm stumped. Car still misfires, tore alot apart and found this.

Its actually the Vaccume line for the HVAC vent selector. That would probably be the reason behind me not being able to chose which vent the air is directed from anymore. I'm going to tear out my TB tomorrow and check every single hose line comming off the FPR, break booster line, and shoot everything with Carb cleaner. Probably just replace everything so this dosn't happen again, i still don't know how the hell i broke this one, because its has some nice wear marks.

I have no idea either, but I am going to go pull my TB right now and check everything on that puppy, then go for a spin.

Re: Soo... I'm stumped. Car still misfires, tore alot apart and found this.

I feel like a total idiot right now... i'm pretty sure i found the problem. But I am too ashamed to say what it was.

But on a lighter note, i have an extremly clean TB, intake manifold, and i cleaned of shit load more of my engine bay I have never been able to reach before, so all in all it was a success I hope. I still have some things to put back together and I will find out tomorrow or thursday when i take her for a spin.

Re: Soo... I'm stumped. Car still misfires, tore alot apart and found this.

Early this year when I was installing all of these parts, I noticed the wiring job i did on my tach adaptor looked like shit. Autometer gives you alot of wire to ground the thing with, so i just had it bunched up. I also had my interrrior gauges grounded near the same location. So i trimmed the wire to lenght and ground the gauges on the same wire at the tach adaptor for a clean look. Started the car up, ETS off light was on, car was ideling around 1500 rpms, then the CEL came on. So i un did that idea, moved the ground off the one with the tach adaptor and grounded it under the dash closer to the gauges themselves. Called it a day......

I forgot to tighten down the screw that i had the tach adpator/washer combination grounded on. It was loose enough to the point where it was just resting on the screw threads and not smashed between the washers for a good ground. So with the engine vibs, I am going to assume it was loosing a good contact and causing the misfire/ ETS off light to come on. Sooo... i fixed that problem and instead of the wire crimps right on the 2pin tower connection i soldered the sons of bitches. If it continues to misfire after this, I have no idea what to do. Between the gaping hole in the vaccume line and that loose ground, it better have fixed it!

That's exactly what's been happening to me all this time, remember when I posted about an ETS off light and ABS light awhile ago? It usually only misfires and kicks on when I turn right tho Someone from Jbo said that it's probly an abs wire or some other wire near my wheel that's messed up or loose or something?
