Hello, Im having this weird noise when I accelerate quickly. The sound only can be described as tin foil being crunched up really quick. Does anyone have any info?
And I also wanted to know if there are any upgrades for the engine of the 5.9?Thanx |

Re: 5.9 limited acceleration noise???
Is it really loud or? I would check motor mounts under the engine. I had that issue with mine it made a terible noise under acceleration, i replaced driver side motor mount and fixed that problem..

Re: 5.9 limited acceleration noise???
The noise you are hearing might be PINGIN/DETONATION. Kinda sounds like ball bearing rattling around in your engine (or in a tin can)?
I used to get this in my 94 5.2L, I use hgiher octane fuel 92-93 octane and it helps, I get it really bad if I use 87 octane, I used a fuel treatment- Techron according to the instructions I was given on some website and now I don't get it at all with higher octane fuel, haven't tried to use 87 in awhile. Instructions for the the CHEVRON TECHRON, put a bottle of techron in with a 1/4 tank of gas - run it til empty, put another bottle of techron in and fill it to 1/4 tank - run it til empty, then use another bottle with half tank of gas run til empty, then fill it up - recommends using a bottle of techron with a full tank of gas every 3,000 miles. Let me know if this works. Also, make sure on your engine you are not using anything below 93 octane, 93 octane is required for the 360 (5.9L) engines. You might be getting pinging because of the simple fact of using a lower octane then recommended. |
