Wip 3 Merc Benz DTM D2;Telle;Warsteiner
Planning on doing 3 DTM kits at one shot. As stated ill be doing Team D2 , Team Original-Telle and Team Warsteiner. Ill take more pictures of the decals ETC once i get the bodies sanded down and checked for paint. The Warsteiner kit should be the easiest to do as the decals are much lesser then the other two kits. Hardest most difficult kit to decal would be the Original-Telle , after looking at the decals i think it will truely be a hard job.
Thanks Thats all for now ![]()

I think you should do a pit-diorama or something like that.. you could always build one with a door open or something..

Re: Wip 3 Merc Benz DTM D2;Telle;Warsteiner
Ok done with spraying for two of the three cars...
Warsteiner : Primed 2 layers (gray) then followed by semigloss black Original-teile : Primed 2 layers (white) then followed by Pure white (didnt use navywhite as stated in the instruction because i feel pure white gives it a clean look and i wanted this to be a display car not one that has gone thur lots of racers)For the Front body kit i have to wait for the paint to arrived which is metallic blue D2 : Primed 2 layers (white) then followed by Gloss Aluminium ![]() ![]() ![]() Took some pictures of the decals : 1st picture : All the decals for all 3 cars 2nd picture : Original-Teile 3rd picture : D2 4rd picture : Warsteiner ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Thanks for looking! Ps any mod that reads this .. would u do me a kind favour to correct my spelling for "original-telle to original-teile" for the title of this thread A million thanks for that !!!

This looks very ambitious. Good luck with your projects. Maybe we can open a DTM-Mercedes-Meet-Thread someday.
Make sure to give me some ideas on working out some details!

Re: Wip 3 Merc Benz DTM D2;Telle;Warsteiner
You're in for a treat if you like decals.
I've built the Original-teile and it sure takes a while to put on all of those decals. If you never worked with Cartorgraf decals before they are a bit special, in a positive way. When I layed down the big hood decal it simply refused to snuggle down no matter how much Micro Sol I slabbed on it. Then suddenly it just went soft and snuggled down perfectly. I also used pure white on my first, but as I made some errors on it. I started a new one with the recomended paint on it and I must say that it looks better with the insignia white. It resembles an original-teile box better as you can see in the background of my pics (http://niclasproos.fotopic.net/c115198.html) of the first one I built, the second one is still under construction. Good luck and have fun! Niclas |

Re: Wip 3 Merc Benz DTM D2;Telle;Warsteiner
Thanks for your feedback and interest in my project guys...
Small update.. Checked and Primed rims before i went to sleep. Really good molding by tamiya , couldnt find anything wrong with the rims. Spray silver leaf in the morning. Didnt feel gloss aluminium would bring out the rims that well and therefore i used silver leaf. Decals on the tires were done as well , double coated with decal softer to let it stick to the tires well... I cant help but feeling abit crazy doing so many Rims and Tires. When i look at them i was telling myself "WTF m i thinking?! Doing so many..." Anyway Here are the pictures of the progress 1st and 2nd picture : Prime process 3rd picture : Spraying of silver leaf 4th picture : Drying of rims and decals on the tire under the sun 5th picture : 2 out of 6 of the Bigger wheels 6th picture : 2 out of 6 of the Smaller wheels ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Enjoy and Thanks

Re: Wip 3 Merc Benz DTM D2;Telle;Warsteiner
Ok decal update... The Hood is done. Basically painted the underside matt black then applied the decal on..
The D2 and Warsteiner decals were quite a breeze.. BUT my GOD the Orginal-Teile one is a real pain in the ass , i had to have part of the decal dry then apply decal softer to bend it to the shape of the hood... Another problem i encountered was that the decal crumbled alot... i fixed this problem by letting the decal dry then applying decal softer , let it dry again and then apply more decal softer and try to brush it flat as much as possible until they were small lines. After it dried for 15 mins i applied decal softer and lightly rubbed out the lines with my finger , applying more decal softer as it starts to get dry. In the picture there are still abit of imperfections. Im fixing them right now as i type this progress report out. Thanks for reading and i hope my info would be useful to everyone. ![]() ![]() ![]() Thanks!!!

Re: Wip 3 Merc Benz DTM D2;Telle;Warsteiner
Looks like a real ambitious project. I have done a number of these cars and would like to share a tip for the future. Decals, especialy complex decals adhere best to super smooth gloss surfaces. If you look at your black car, you sprayed it with semi-gloss - and you can see a little silvering of the decal carrier film around the decal, where as you would not see it if the model was glossed first.
Often, especially in the military or aircraft world of modeling, they gloss the entire model, apply decals then spray it with dull coat or semi-gloss coat. Otherwise looks AWESOME! They are good kits that fit together well and the decal schemes are impressive!

Re: Wip 3 Merc Benz DTM D2;Telle;Warsteiner
Thanks for the tip! Usually for cars with decals i clearcoat them after decals are set... and Usually it flush with the paint.. hopefully this time it works :P

Re: Wip 3 Merc Benz DTM D2;Telle;Warsteiner
Yes, that could work too. I know that the small carrier film around the decals can also be trimmed back to the colors to give the same effect. Non-the-less, great job and keep at it!
