in line fuel filter???

Hello,

Driving my 1996 mitsu. spyder gs eclipse has gotten a bit different.

While accelerating in every gear excluding 1st and reverse between 1-3 rpms my car seems to cut on and off making a jerking kind of motion

I was told this is a common symptom of the in line fuel filter and or fuel filter on the in-tank fuel pump...

Where are these filters located on the vehicle? How do I replace them?

Re: in line fuel filter???

in the spyder gs it's under the hood down below the battery tray mounted on the firewall. Remove the battery and tray for semi easy access. That is a common symptom and it's a cheap fix if thats the problem.

Re: in line fuel filter???

Spyders might be different? Not sure...but I think 96+ it was in the rear by the passenger tire.

Re: in line fuel filter???

okay I will check in those places, what if it is the In fuel tank filter... Thats probably a harder filter to replace...

What does the in line fuel filter look like and what types of shops would repair something like this...

how easy is it to do my self, any suggestions or sites or has anyone done it?
