Are the Fieros FWD or RWD?
Im want to buy a cheap one to use as a race car circle track. Just wondering what would be a good kind of Fiero to get and use. Anyone?

One that hasn't caught fire
. Seriously, they are all rwd, find one with a 2.8 and a manual transmission, then build the hell out of the motor. Another possibility is taking a 4cyl fiero and finding a w41 quad4 motor, swap it and it will also go like hell, the quads build some good power past 3k rpm.

Re: Are the Fieros FWD or RWD?
I talked to a guy who dropped a V6 in his fiero, and he competes w/ V8 at the central ohio raceway (hes the only V6 in his class, and still kicks the V8s.)

Re: Are the Fieros FWD or RWD?
Any reason you'd want a Fiero? Honestly, as a race car, they'd be too difficult to work on (IMO). I have a 1985 GT (2.8L V6/auto). Transverse mounted motor. The front plugs are... fun.
Plus they're really tail-heavy. Try to take a corner hard and they push a lot, and then suddenly oversteer. If it were me, I'd spend the (low dollar) money on a third gen Camaro as a race car. Bigger engine bay, easier to work on, and plenty of cheap handling parts out there to make it corner better. The supercharged motors (from the Buicks - Riviera etc) are popular swaps in the Fieros. Most will steer you away from the Quad4. Supercharged motors are where it's at these days. Or Northstar swaps. Then again, if you can get your hands on a LS4 from a new GTP, Monte Carlo, Impala, etc... 300 horsepower in a transverse mount motor.
