Bought a 93 Integra at auction yesterday. The car starts and idles fine if you keep it in gear and hold the clutch in. If you put the car in neutral and let out the clutch, it stalls out.
When the car is in gear, and you let out the clutch and hit the gas to go forward, the car won't go at first...feels as if the brake is on. If you have someone push you a bit from behind, once it starts rolling, it will go fine. (It has a donut tire on the front passenger wheel, don't know if that is contributing.)
Tried to tow it home with a truck and tow strap, with someone in the Integra holding the clutch down, in neutral, car not running. At first it went fine, then suddenly the car lurched forward, the way it feels when you start a car by popping the clutch, as if the car had put itself into gear.
It's almost as if the car doesn't know the difference between being in neutral or being in gear...any thoughts or help diagnosing would be greatly appreciated. We are mechanically inclined.
