Lesabre engine dies at odd times

Hi guys, new member here, I have been on the Caddy forums for years and got and gave some good help, I need help with my wifes 94 Lesabre. 3.8L Auto, 107k .

I replaced the O2 sensor about 2 months ago and a short time after I did it cut off on my wife at a stop light. It cranked right back up and she drove it on, the Service Engine came on she said til she cut the car off and when she restarted it the light was off. Ran ok for a few days then I was driving it on a trip down the interstate at 70 mph and it just died, I pulled over and shut down everthing, a/c, radio that stuff put it in park and it started right up, the engine light came on and it seemed to be a little low on power. I drove it home cut the car off and got out to check things out restarted it and the engine light was out. It has done that now about every several days.

I replace the fuel filter since it was due, but the problem is still there it will just cut off at odd times, never setting the SEL to stay on. I hate to throw parts at it does any one have any ideas, I don't know if I need to replace the new o2 sensor since it started after I changed it I think that is just a fluke, I guess I need to check the fuel pressure, the fpr, and coils and ignition module. It has the 3 coil setup.

Thanks for any help or ideas.

John

Tough intermittent diagnosis, check the wires from the crank sensor to the icm, look for corroded frayed or pinched wires, on gp I would replace the troublesome crank sensor.

Crank sensor or ignition module would be my first guesses. After that, wiring, PCM, or gremlins living inside your gas tank.

Your symptoms discribe a problem CRANK position SENSOR...
$200 shop. or $50 self with proper tools.

It was difficult troubleshoot. No good codes.. Camshaft codes only. I swapped lots of parts.

Recently this problem is showing up more and more on forums.

Yes, i am going to check and see if there are any codes stored and if so then I will check out those systems,if not then I am going to check the resistance of the o2 sensor just because I recently relaced it and my problems started right after, I don't thing it has anything to do with it, but for my piece of mind, I really thing it is a bad wire or ground and or the ignition module. I will post back as i check things out, I just hope I do not have a crank sensor problem, I will double check the wiring and connector to the crank sensor, I hate pulling that blasted pulley! Did it on my 92 Lesabre at least for the 94 the sensor has a definate spot to reside in and I do not need the special position tool.
