Do you grill?

With summer coming to a close here in the Northern Hemisphere decent weather here in my area will soon be a thing that memories are made of. With that in mind, I was wondering who out there in AF land likes to grill? I usually make dinner on the grill 5 times a week or more when the weather is good,(I've even been known to use my grill in a major snowstorm. What types of food do you like to grill, and do you have a favorite marinade?
I like to grill most any meats, I've done some vegetables, and fish as well. I like to use a marinade called "Chiavettas" which is kind of a regional marinade made popular in the Buffalo area by a catering company many years ago. It is available in some of our grocery stores. I also like to use the Cornell University marinade for grilling chicken.I also like to experiment with combinations of spices, oils, and vinegars for marinades.

Re: Do you grill?

I grill a few times a week as well. I've been known to grill in rain, snow, and even sleet. I normally end up grilling a lot of chicken seeings how my dad can't eat beef all that often anymore because of his heart.

Re: Do you grill?

I grill a lot of chicken too, especially when I can get the boneless breasts on sale for a good price. I'll buy extra and grill it all at once then make a few meals out of it like fajitas, sandwiches, and even cut up what's left for main dishes such as chicken and noodles, soup, etc. That's too bad about your dad and the fact he had to lower his intake of beef. On the good side, however, I've noticed leaner cuts and lower fat content available for sale to the public in the past few years. It seems everybody is finally getting "on the bandwagon" and requesting leaner beef, and better choices.
One of our grocery chains has introduced "irradiated beef" for hamburgers where you no longer have to cook your hamburgers to a well done state. You can have them rare or medium without the risk of a food borne illness. I might try some of that and see what it's like.

Re: Do you grill?

i grill rarely, but when i do, i proclaim myself grill-master, like any other sensible man. I never use gas-grills (they'll leave a chemical-like taste on some foods, especially meats), also, never use self-lighting charcoal bricks (same effect).
I love grilling beer battered chicken n shrimp, steak, burgers, hot dogs, sometimes i'll grill an assortment of veggies like mushrooms, bell peppers, red onions, etc.. to throw into a salad with some lemon garlic and wine. Also, i like grilling this one indian dish called Tandoori Chicken... its spicy as all hell. One time, I helped prepare and grill the butt of a lamb (that's it's shoulder, not it's ass), and came out pretty good. It was a hawaiian(sp?) bbq so we had grilled pineapples and palm-tree hearts, coconut rum concoctions, and some grass skirts, lol.

Re: Do you grill?

I love grilling. When I was in school in florida, every sunday during football season was MANDATORY grilling. Nothing better than cold beer, hot grill, and good football. Since there were so many of us, we rotated grill-tending privelages. Whoever was responsible for grilling that week was "The Champ" We did a lot of chicken legs and breasts. Usually accompanied by the requisite burgers, dogs, and polish sausages. Once me and my friend tried to grill breakfast. Keep in mind we were greatly inebriated when we thought of this genius plan, but we teied to cook eggs, french toast, and bacon on the grill. Bacon was good, toast and eggs... not so much

Marinades vary from Champ to Champ but I usually make my own with whatever seems like an interesting combo that day.

Re: Do you grill?

I can grill red meats pretty well, i don't have much experience with chicken but when i've cooked it it's turned out pretty well. Of course i can cook the normal old sausages, dogs, etc. I don't really marinade anything, i'm usually too lazy/hungry to put anything on my meat, but montreal steak spice/chicken spice goes well on all meats.
Also at staff parties, being one of the only sober ones (damn driving), I would usually be grill master. the burgers and sausages turned out really well concidering I was grilling in the dark with no light. i went on pure feel, like how soft and squishy they were, and they came out perfectly.

Re: Do you grill?

I love to grill. I use to not really care of grilled chicken, or chicken in general, but now I love it. A lot of times instead of getting a steak at Texas Roadhouse, I get the grilled chicken cesear.

But I love grilling in general. Looking forward to getting back into it once I move at the end of the year.
