service 4 wheel drive light

Hi, I have a 2000 Blazer LT with the electronic 4 button 4 wheel drive system. When driving on the highway today the service 4 wheel drive light came on periodictly while making a clicking noise from the glove compartment area. Also all 4 button lights would come on.What may be the problem? I did not try to shift to 4 hi or low thinking it may not shift back to 2 wheel drive. Please help with any info. Thanks.

Re: service 4 wheel drive light

It may be that goofy servo control relay system and/or the transfer case shift motor not reporting its position correctly to the module. Do the "2 HI" and "4 HI" lights alternate of flash, or are they steady? You should be safe in shifting from 2-high to 4-high several cycles to try to wipe off the switch contacts of the shift motor.

Re: service 4 wheel drive light

Update: Went on another highway trip yesterday. This was a 50 mile trip the light came on a few times and the button lights glowed steady.I decided to try the 4 wheel drive system.Everything worked fine it shifted into 4 wheel hi also put it in 4 lo and put the transfer case in neutral all with no problems.I am going to wait before I bring it to the dealer.

Re: service 4 wheel drive light

Well all was fine for 11 days then it acted up again today (9/7). I would like to ad that this only happens when the truck is being driven. I am not trying to shift into 4 wheel drive. After it acted up I shifted it to 4 hi,4 low, auto 4 wheel and shifted to neutral with no problem. So I think it may be the TCCM or axle sensor. Are these parts hard to change? I have not tried to reset the TCCM because I think I will lose the set trouble codes. Is this the case? Any help please. Thanks
