2000 ranger runs rough

I have been fighting a engine miss for awhile. Finally got a engine code of #1 missfire. Pulled plug and wire put them back and it was gone. Still have miss after warm up and after running for 20 miles have very rough idle. No more check engine. what the heck am I fighting here.

Maybe instead of putting the crap back in, you should change all the plugs and wires and see what happens.

I agree with Johnny on the plugs. If there is a code for a cylinder misfire, one of the secondary(ususlly) componets are at fault.

Re: 2000 ranger runs rough

called the ford dealership parts depart. He said anything after I believe 1996 has dpfe but when I started to debate with him it was the usual thing from a dealership. Mine does not have it nor was it ever set up for it. I can tell.I have already replaced the plugs and wires about 10,000 miles ago. Shit I got a guy who wants to buy it but i dont want him testing it out till she is running smooth. I hate this truck

Re: 2000 ranger runs rough

well if you are just gonna sell it, why dont you take it somewhere and get it fixed properly.. whats 200 bucks, even less probably, when your gonna get like 6 grand anyways? either that or sell it for a bit less man, no reason to screw over someone else.
