yet another clear coat question

This might be a stupid question, but I can't find an answer to it in the FAQ.

If I use clear coat from a spray can, is it applied straight as a wet coat over the colour or do you apply a couple of mist coats first like you do when spraying colour?

thanks

Re: yet another clear coat question

Mist coats, then cut back and polish for shine.
By the way, don't use Testors' spray cans.

Re: yet another clear coat question

Mist coat's it is.
If you go to heavy from the start the clear can burn through the edges exposing the primer/underlaying colour/plastic, or whatever is underneath the top colour.
I've done this several times and is slowly developing some patience.
Leave it to dry for, say 10-15 minutes between coats and you shoud be fine.

Good luck!

Re: yet another clear coat question

thanks, I'd been using Tamiya TS spray cans using Primera Man's guide in the faq with great results but I just want to get that bit of extra shine especially if I'm doing a model with big decals
