That looks different! (C5s)

Possibly a very retarded question, and I apologize if someone close to you is retarded for that remark but...on some C5 models (the ones I like) the rear window looks longer and more streamlined. On other models, it looks squished, specifically Z06s. Are my eyes just playing tricks on me?

Re: That looks different! (C5s)

I think I've put together that the smaller roofs are FRCs and all other corvettes have the window that opens as the trunk. Which one has more trunk space and what are the differences in FRC and ...are those hatchbacks?? I LOVE HATCHBACKS!!

Re: That looks different! (C5s)

As the owner of an '02 Z06, FRC means Fixed Roof Coupe. And yes the longer swayed back C5's are in fact hatchbacks. They're a little more roomier. In the sales brochures they specify 2 golf bags can fit in the back of a C5 Corvette. The FRC's started in '99 I believe. How do you like the newest C6's? I'm waiting for the next generation C7 program to come out before deciding to upgrade the current '02. Don't really care for the C6's, too tame for me. You could easily get into a great used C5 nowadays. Be sure to get a Carfax report before buying anything. There going pretty reasonable these days. I think you should trade up your Camaro if you're not upside down on it!

Re: That looks different! (C5s)

I'll see how things go, but I don't have much money now because my camaro broke down, the tranny went...twice...I think the torque converter didn't have fluid in it or something. My nissan needs a new timing chain which I bought but I have NO time to install it...so...I'm basically screwed.

Thanks for the information though. I think the C6's look really mean, especially the C6Rs which I saw at a LeMans race.

Your Camaro looks great. Especially with two different paint colors. Dude you really need to get that thing painted.

What's worse is the red isn't metallic. I was looking for a blue junkyard fender but I just couldn't find one around here, anything else was too expensive. I bought a primer fender first and it turned out to be a repro, wasn't too happy about that. It looks real because of it's design so I installed it, to find out it didn't fit. There's a been a lot of trial and error with this car.

I'm thinking about just buying another third gen. It's gotta be a manual too.

Re: That looks different! (C5s)

Ya, I know what you mean. I'm 15 years old. Right now I have a 1985 Corvette in great condition, but when I was 12 I got a 1980 Trans Am and my Dad and I were going to have to do a complete restoration. We put about $700 into over 3 years and decided we didn't have time to mess with it anymore. Last summer we sold the TA and my parents suprised me with the Vette. That was a great suprise. How much have you put into the Camaro?
