'95 Windstar back window

My back left window is stuck open and I've noticed quite a few vans similar to mine with this problem-some even taping the gap to prevent air/rain coming in.

Does anyone know if there's a common problem that we should fix first? Is it the button on the dash or a wire somewhere that shorts out? When we first got it, it worked sometimes, then didn't. If you continuously pushed the button eventually it would close. Now it won't do anything...and I don't want to tape it to keep the winter air out.

TIA.

Sounds like the electric motor that opens the window is bad. You can see it when you remove the panel around it. Maybe unhook it, get it closed, and unplug the connector.

Both of mine were doing that, I tracked it down to the switch, you can pop it out by removing the ashtray and reaching up. It comes apart quite easily, I fixed mine with a liberal application of contact cleaner, (keep it away from the plastic). The windows have been working fine since then.
