Re: Rust control?
I had a similar unit on an old Aerostar. I liked it - it worked very well until the unit died(I think) after 7 years. We've always had high mileage cars and didn't see any rust start until around 130k of upstate NY weather. The process makes sense to me. I might try it agin on my next new or newer car. I like the idea of the LED warning lights to let you know it's still working.

Re: Rust control?
A relative has this on his car, its been seven years since, and it does seem to work. The technology has been used for awhile, so its been around. I have been considering this for a long time, and since the price has gone down a lot, I will be putting this on my truck before the winter.

Re: Rust control?
those electronic rust proventing systems work well. best to install them on new cars to provent rust later on. they do die eventually though. i just use undercoating in a spray can. its alot cheaper that those systems and it works. i used it mostly on the frame.

Re: Rust control?
The one thing it will do is stop the body from rusting, but everything else will be eaten away.
Best to use something that covers the whole truck and engine instead of just one area. They are good for areas without any salt, but for anyone with a vehicle exposed to salt every winter, you will see some rust quickly. Just saw a 2005 Corolla with it installed and the parts of the engine nd some areas are indeed rotting and rusting quickly.

I never get the engine , transmission, transfer case, sprayed with the rust proofing chemical, to dirty to work on, and, especially in the case of the engine, it looks cleaner, and runs more cooler because it hasn't got a load of rustproofing on it. What do you mean by engine parts? What engine parts are you referring to that rust? |

Re: Rust control?
Lots of things, bolts, bracing, screws and washers etc....
The module does not compensate for salt, it only stops normal corrosion from exposure to air and water and such, advanced consition will not be helped.
