Accelerator Pedal Vibration / Buzz
After finally getting my brake pedal noise problem fixed (see my other post concerning brake booster and master cylider), I now have a new, but minor, problem.
After replacing the brake booster for the 1st time, we noticed that the accelerator pedal felt softer or looser. Not a big deal, just had to get used to it. In other words the pedal was MUCH easier to press down, which , the first time you do is a big surprise! Didn't know the ole Windstar could take off like that! Anyway, three brake boosters and a master cylinder later, make brake problem is fixed. However, now, there is a vibration, buzzing feeling in the accelerator that wasn't there pre-master cylinder replacement. So, my question is this: Is there someting that the mechanic could have done in the process of replacing the master cylinder that would have affected the feel of the accelerator pedal? Maybe as part of the disassembly, the accelerator cable wasn't reconnected quite right, or there is a vibration dampening clip or something that is loose? Thanks for any help that you can provide. |

Re: Accelerator Pedal Vibration / Buzz
He may have left the throttle cable housing not anchored, especially at its end, as it should be. Have someone actuate the pedal while you look around the throttle body ... the problem will probably stand out.
Glad you got the brake noise fixed. I wonder just what the exact problem was? |

Re: Accelerator Pedal Vibration / Buzz
My brake problem ended up being a bad master cylider, not a bad brake booster like the 1st dealer mechinic insisted. Nice enough guy, but he wouldn't even consider that his diagnosis was wrong. 2nd dealer got it on the first try.

Re: Accelerator Pedal Vibration / Buzz
On my '96 3.8L, there are 2 accellerator return springs.
Once, one fell off when I had the trottle body off, and my pedal was much easier to push, until I got another spring.
