Coolant Leak Problem

Ok I know this has been probably discussed before so forgive me. I have a coolant leak on my 95, I can't really tell where it is coming from. I guess its more than a leak, some days after filling it, running it for a while and then shutting it off, all the coolant leaks out rather quickly. My question is could this be a waterpump leak? If so where is the water pump located at? The hoses all look good so the only thing left is the water pump. Let me know your opinions...

Great thing is if that is the problem, I think I will have some Prisoners at the local state pen work on my car to fix it, labor is free, just pay for parts or pick them up and deliver the parts. Its a program they have for inmates that are mechanics, all work is guaranteed.

Re: Coolant Leak Problem

I have a 1996 aurora which had a coolant leak. Turned out to be nothing more than replacing the cap on the surge tank.

Re: Coolant Leak Problem

waterpump could easily cause your problem. there is a weeping hole under the housing. theres a seal that can go out and it leaks.

the waterpum is on the drivers side of the engine near the front by the radiator. look for the little pulley and thats it. ya, its on the drivers side

Re: Coolant Leak Problem

I have that same problem with the leak. Replaced upper rad hose because there was coolant on rad fan housing. I saw coolant leaking from under the water pump as I was re-assembling the top cowling. I aked for a water pump at AutoZone and they gave me an impeller with o seal! Does this mean I only have to take off the cover of the pump and replace the impeller, seal and cover gasket? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanx, Ron
