fuel filter won't come off

Anyone know a trick to get a fuel filter off a 95 s-10 2.2? My fittings are rusted so I can't get the filter to turn. Thanks!

If all else fails put a support behind the nut part of old fuel filter like a a big block and take a chisel or muffler gun and crack the nut part on the old filter.

Re: fuel filter won't come off

thanks all! I'm gonna give it another try on Sunday when I have some help. I believe the rust came from the mag chloride they use to melt ice on the roads. I'm gonna pay better attention to the underside of my s-10 from now on! Thanks!

Re: fuel filter won't come off

It's a spray-can chemical that loosens rusted bolts/whatever else. Your local Auto shop or Walmart should have it. Just spray the bolts liberally one morning and if you want to, try it in 3-4 hour intervals throughout the day. If, with every attempt, it won't come lose, hit it with some more Blaster. My guess would be the first shot and letting it sit for a few hours would be good enough, or hitting it the night before and going and doing it in the morning.

Re: fuel filter won't come off

You need PB Blaster for everything that is stuck. WD-40 doesn't begin to compare.

Re: fuel filter won't come off

Just in case you can't get it off, the dealer sells a filter rebuild kit for when you finally have mangled it enough and you finally cut it off out of frustration.
