Question A couple of Questions¿

Ok I am going to put headers and cat back on my car. I dont have much money but want some good stuff. I have found some DC Sport Headers for $279 that I am thinking about getting. Here is one of my questions...Would cheap headers be just as good. Like a pair of ebay headers with the same make? Also I found a Megan Cat-Back for 360 does anyone have any input on Megan¿ Are they good, bad? If I can buy the cheap headers I am gonig to get a good intake. The one I got from my friend broke about a weak ago so I had to convert it to a short ram.

Also is it hard to convert a N/T to a Turbo? I know I will need to buy new headers and all that but what else would I have to change.

Thanks for the help!

Re: A couple of Questions¿

I think that the ebay headers are just as good as a name brand one, but many others will disagree with that... I feel the same way about exhausts... Piping is piping no matter who makes it. Although I like stainless steel better than that aluminized crap.

As for turbocharging a non-turbo... Many others would tell you to look at the stickeys in the performance section as we had a guide on turbocharging n/a cars... I decided to check out the thread tonight out of curiousity as to why nobody uses it... I guess when Jake left he deleted everything in there that was useful... Tis a shame but here is a link that was posted by another member that will teach you more about turbocharged motors and the various components that you would need with it.

http://www.cse.uconn.edu/~yelevich/turbo/turbo.html

Enjoy.

**EDIT**
Although the motor is not a DSM motor in the guide, it all works the same way pretty much.

Re: A couple of Questions¿

At one time I was hell bent on getting that DC Sports header. Then I went poor. Life sucks.

A cheap header *can be* as good as the reputable name brands. Personally, I wouldn't take the chance on a bad fitment. I've read a lot that the headers on Ebay don't fit right, but I have also heard positive things and a few people on here have them with no problems. I guess it just depends on who you buy from.

As for the turbo question, do a search. The stickeyed thread may not be what it used to be, but there are 826 other threads about turbo-N/T conversions that you can read through to get an idea of what your up against.

Re: A couple of Questions¿

And for the record, we only have one header, not two, not a pair. One single header. Have a nice day.

Re: A couple of Questions¿

I have heard a lot of good things about the megan header....I would give it a shot...and it isnt too expensive...

As far as putting a turbo on your car when I was trying to figure out how it all worked I read up on the hahn site www.hahnracecraft.com but there are also a lot of good threads out there so just do a search and you will find a lot...the links posted above are pretty good... I even went to howthingswork.com and they had a some stuff on turbos so that might help as well...

Re: A couple of Questions¿

The ebay headers are good. Mine fit perfectly, no problems with matching up, and has work flawlessly since I got it. I would recommend them. If you get the header, and you decide to go turbo, you need a new header. Actually, for the 420a, it would just be an exhaust manifold.

Again as stated above, a pipe is a pipe.
