HP at low cost

Well i'm the proud owner of a 97 ex, 2door 5 speed. And i need some hp in a major way. I'm thinking about getting headers and replacing the whole exhaust, maybe leavin the cat out. since we dont have emissions tests here. and i thought about getting the venom 400, but i heard a couple negative things about it. I would like some advice as to what i should do. I just got it a couple months ago, and already want an h22 or turbo, but i might as well just trade my car off for a lude if i'm gonna do that. So any advice would help.

You could always start out with the ever popular I/H/E (Intake/Headers/Exhaust). That will give you a couple HP. Then maybe build up the engine (new pistons, rods, etc) and go FI (Turbo) or Nitrous. Or like you said, H22. I would put an H22 in an Accord to make it a sleeper. Most people expect a Lude to have 200hp. They don't expect that power out of an Accord. That would make it a real good sleeper. Especially if you leave the outside completely stock.

Ya i'd really like to go for the turbo and or nos after i built the engine up some. And i'm planning on keeping the outside basically stock till after i'm finished with all the go-fast parts. Might have to get ride of the 15's before that though. I have the intake and some of the exhaust already, so i thought i'd finish it off with the headers. I'm just wondering if ecu piggy back stuff really makes that much of a difference. I know it works pretty good on turbo'd cars, but on a n/a engine would i be able to tell a difference afterwards? I just seems like it might be a waste of money, when i could put the 300 or 400 towards a turbo.

The venom 400 doesnt really do anything, its not going to give you any noticeable diff.

I see that a few people have given the Venom 400 a bad rap!!! I have one installed in my car. It does give an energetic feeling to the othewise dull drive. Everything on your car should be in perfect working order though.

I say if you want to try it, go for it. More power to you. Everything in the performance market is subject to verification though trial and error. I didn't find that the Venom 400 was a bad thing.

Currently, my 90 LX is down. I need a new transmission. My car is 12 years old and has 208K miles on it. I believe it's about time for a new transmission.

Good luck on your decisions to upgrade your car. You should note that I said (your decisions). If you do not try the Venom 400 now, maybe you can try it later. There are still plenty of options out there that will improve your cars performance.

My opinion about the Venom 400 is that it does what is says it can do.

So do they offer some kind of money back garantee? Cause i'd really like to try it out, but i would also like to be able to throw it back at them and get some money back if its not up to par.
