ABS Light on. HELP!!

I have a Ultra that shows a ABS light all the time.
My fix is some black tape over the light.

Has anyone troubleshot an ABS problem and wish to share their successful procedure?

Have you paid for a failure and know the failing part?

Maybe with some inputs can establish a history of common failings in that system.
I wish to tackle this nusance and gain an overall safer ride.

Thanks. BASS

Re: ABS Light on. HELP!!

You can take it to a competent local garage and have them hook up the diagnostic computer to your car. They will be able to better determine if it's the sensors (wheel), ABS computer (under dash) or the ABS unit under the hood. I have a 96 that has a faulty sensor on the right wheel. Computer says that it is 0 MPH when running. So, I bought a $20 replacement sensor at the salvage yard. Monday night will have a better idea on how this all works.. good or bad.

Re: ABS Light on. HELP!!

I've got no idea on how difficult it is. I took it to the garage that diagnosed the problem in the first place. They replaced the left front sensor (ABS) and now it checks out good on their computer.

Re: ABS Light on. HELP!!

Thanks.... bugged my connector myself. As I recall its pin 48LF, 47RF, 46LR, 45RR, and the ajacent pin row. I had to pull the wheel off and release the connector from the wheel to ohm it out.. It was bad at the wheel. Working on hub replacement now.

I would be good to know if the puller is needed to get it off the axle as the book shows.?? Anyone?

"They replaced the left front sensor (ABS) and now it checks out good on their computer.".. heck I would just find some dirt and romp on the brakes.

Thanks for your post.
