EVO IX vs. 3000GT VR4

So I was getting gas at a Chevron station when I see an absolutely beautiful Black VR4 pull up. Normaly don't do this, but I went over to the owner (a young kid, no more than 18-19 yrs old) and asked him about his car. I love EVOs, but I still have a soft spot for 3000GTs (I've owned 3 in my lifetime). It was pretty nice, excellent condition, 1998 model, his engine was extremely clean, cleaner than my sh*t, LOL. So we're just chatting about cars, and he asks me where I am heading, and I tell him I am heading on the 60 East to Ontario (California). He is like, I'm going on the 60 East too, do you want to do some runs. So I agree, his only mod is an Intake and my only mod is a Drop In Filter, so should be a pretty good race.

So we jump on the freeway, took a little while for the traffic to clear up enough for a race, so we go from about a 60-65mph roll. I jump about half a car, and shift to 4th and pull another car, and pull about another car in 5th and let off. Great race, but I wanted to make sure the guy wasn't like heart broken or anything, so I pulled up to his side to give him the thumbs up, and he had a huge grin on his face, So everything was cool. Pulled off the freeway and started another day of work.

Nice race! That would be really weird racing something you have owned a few of.

Your 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is the 92nd out of the 315 that were made that year. Only 21 of which are exactly identical.

people with evo 8 has been running 30 psi on the stock turbo and methanol injection making 400+whp on stock turbo.

actually its very very very common now. of course its not constant, they only switch to the high boost methanol injection map when they do big runs at hte track etc.

methanol is exactly like race gas, it cools off your combustion temp like crazy, and you can get away with running leaner afr's ( it can go from 11.7:1 to 12.5:1 afr ) and you can advance the timing even more to get more power.

you can practically get away with murder on methanol. of course you still need some kind of fail safe.

stock injectors on the EVO's are 550cc's which are good for around 350whp. for the guys running 30 and some even 35 psi on their stock turbos, they're running all the supporting mods such as upgraded intercoolers, cams that allows them to rev to 8000 rpm, ems tune, boost controllers, methanol injection, and arp headstuds because at that boost level, the heads starts to lift off the block blowing your head gaskets with the stock head studs.

proven formula to make around 380-400whp stock turbo running 11's.

Chris's Evo is running on Methanol. That shit obviously works well if he's putting down 900 ponies at all four wheels.

doesn't alcohol corrode your engine though? Is it worth it?
