4.3 to SBC swap

Ok gang,

I've been working on modifying my one truck nicknamed Stomper for some time now.
It just has finally pulled its last straw. I am ready to pull out the factory 4.3 and drop in a 305 roller cam motor I have from a 89 camaro.

So what do I need aside from headers, and modifying the fuel system. "I'm going carburated for now"...
I have been dealing with bad wiring for too long and everything else seems to go wrong, Just last fall I replaced the distributer, now I'm back to backfiring through the TBI when I give it more than half throttle and it wont start normally.
You have to start it like its flooded, with your foot to the floor.

Going to replace my injector plug wiring harness in the am. If thats not the problem The 4.3 is a goner.
The 4.3 underwent a top end rebuild about 4000 miles ago. Unknown if its the original motor. but the truck has 212k on it.
I'm also pondering if the timing chain was repaced when a friend redid the heads. I didnt own the truck when that was done.

Re: 4.3 to SBC swap

You need a cooling system upgrade( electric fans AND new radiator) as well as MOTOR mounts, and thats just to get it bolted in and running cool. DO NOT use a V6 radiator with a V8, you will overheat and break stuff.
