95 jetta gl wont start with key

I have a 95 jetta i bought cheap cause would start turn key and click but no start. I jumped a relay that starts it but now it wont work. I need to get it to start with key I thought it was alarm so I jumped those wires to the alarm everybody says to but didnt help and alarm still works I bought a new relay and it still doesnt work. When i jump the relay no fuel pump. any I deas thanks dave.

Check older forum threads concerning alarm stopping the engine from starting. I'm not familiar with the 95 alarm issures. Sorry.

I have a 96 jetta with a similar problem. I had the starter checked and it was ok. Sometimes it would start on the key and other times it wouldn't. I ran a hot wire to a push button switch under the dash and then to the solonide and it works every time now. it was a simple fix to a complicated problem on a old car. good luck.
