98 Ford Escort Overheading
I just bought this car used a couple days ago, and every thing was fine. Now today on the way home i noticed that the air stopped blowing cold (it is usually really cool) and I looked up and noticed that the temperature was at H. I let it cool down and popped the hood. I am not all that good with cars but I figured it needed coolant, that was the only thing I could think of.
The temperature went down but now the air wont cool down. Whats wrong???

Re: 98 Ford Escort Overheading
Make sure you've added enough coolant. Once low, it can take a while to work all the air out the system. You may have to "top off" several times.
And you need to find out where the original coolant was lost. It could be just a small hose leak ... needs to be repaired before you have a real problem. |

Re: 98 Ford Escort Overheading
Refill the coolant through the reservoir, not the radiator.
Once refilled, let the engine idle, and with the hood up you can inspect all angles and try to locate a leak. Perhaps a good place to start looking is the radiator. If you are only refilling with water, keep in mind that you will have to go back later and blend in antifreeze. |
