Re: heads, cam on LT1 = ???

1) There is no telling how much power you would be putting down. There are so many different options, mixing and matching would produce an infinite number of possibilities. You could check out http://www.eportworks.com/ for some ideas.

2) You better decide if you are going to keep it or sell it. If you do put a cam or H/C on it and sell it, you definately won't get your money's worth out of it. If you decide to keep it and do a cam swap, you'll need more stuff than just a cam, like replacing the valvetrain and shit like that. Its not a cheap thing to do. And no, if done right, you shouldn't blow up your engine. Just make sure you don't produce too high of a lift or you will hit a valve and basically blow up your engine.

In my opinion, I wouldn't do a cam or H/C unless you are POSITIVE that you want to keep the car until it literally dies. With that many miles on it, its not worth doing. You will never make your money back on it, its like flushing that money down the shitter.

Re: heads, cam on LT1 = ???

The LT4 hotcam kit and street/strip head porting has been dyno proven to give 425 horse. 134K isn't all that much unless regular maintance hasn't been done. You will ofcourse make the engine run cleaner and lesson the risk of doing damage by taking out the heads and intake and hot tanking them which will remove sludge that could cause a spun bearing. So its actually a good thing for the life of your engine.

Re: heads, cam on LT1 = ???

But if he plans on selling the car, its not cost effective at all. Even if he does all the work himself.

so if l wanna do heads / cam and 2.73 gears, how much would that cost me?

also u said l gotta do somethingelse too? u mean l cant just put heads and cam into my car? also l cant do the work bymyself..(no knowledge on this)

if l put heads, cam on this car that means l decided not to sell!

but the price is important!

YOu may want to go a little higher with those gears for the type of N/A power you plan on putting out with H/C. I'd say at least 3.42's...probably more like 3.73's. But heads, cam, and gears, just parts could cost around $2-3 grand. Figure $1,200 for a good set of heads, $300 for cam, and $400 for rear end. But all those prices can vary.
You'll also need to beef up your worn out valvetrain, like springs, rocker arms, pushrods, etc.
And I don't advise you doing the work yourself, unless you have help. Shit like that gets complicated, and takes a beginner a long time.
