Tingling Noise on 99 Ranger XLT 4.0L, 4x4
I have a tingling sound coming from either the front passenger side or front driver side and it sounds like it's metal to metal contact. I tighten the nuts to the tortion bar on both sides b/c I found that they were loose (there were two metal washers that were just dancing around before I tighten the nuts, so I figured that was the problem, but it WASN'T). The noise starts around 15 mph and when I'm running 55-60 you can't really hear it (probably b/c I'm moving too fast). I've tried shaking other parts on the front end near the wheels, but I can't seem to find anything loose. The wheel bearings have been replaced on both sides and my mechanic did say to keep an eye on my ball joints b/c the will need to be replaced in the next 6 months or so. So if ANYONE has any ideas on what to try next or what the problem may be, your help is greatly appreciated...Thank You

Exhaust heat shield loose maybe? That is a common thing to rattle when the little welds on the shields break.

Re: Tingling Noise on 99 Ranger XLT 4.0L, 4x4
Thanks for the suggestion...I'll take a look at the heat shield, but I'm thinking that isn't going to be the noise b/c I believe it's coming from somewhere closer to one of the front wheels...While I'm driving it's pretty loud/annoying, but as I start slowing down for a stop light it starts to fade and then it will stop right before I come to a complete stop...But I'll take your advice and check the exhaust heat shield this weekend...Thanks Again for the Help
