Hey guys, I'm new!

Hey guys! I'm Dylan, I've been into tuners and all for about 2-3 years now. I'm 14, but eventually you'll realise I'm not your average 14 year old.

Uhh about me
I'm 14. I'm skinny. If things work out I will be in Japan about a year from now!!! I speak Japanese, not fluently but hope to someday.

I enjoy school, but not to the point of being a total loser. I have a small awesome group of friends. I tag. (as in graffiti) Most people tell me I'm mature for my own age, but I hate saying that 'cus I don't wanna sound conceeded.(sp)

I don't know much about engines or that kinda stuff, but I know some stuff about car electronics. I'm basically here to meet some chill people and learn some sick stuff. Say hi and stuff!

EDIT!: I am more into the street racing aspect of cars but I like cars in general so it doesn't matter THAT much.

Thanks,
Dylan!

Re: Hey guys, I'm new!

Welcome to AF. But I'm moving your thread, because it has nothing to do with Street Racing.

Thanks for the warm welcome G-man!

I would have to say that my favorite car is... or was the '92 Honda CRX. My dad used to have one. It's color was teal and i can remember weekend trips to NYC to visit his mom. Man those were the days. That car was the absolute best thing to ride in. He knew nothing about cars, but the amount of money spent on keeping that thing running perfect could have gotten him through UTC lol!

So when I'm older I'm gunna try and find one! So yea Honda CRX! We still own Hondas but we have an element and an Odessy. (I used to be an only child, once my mom had my sister when i was 7 we got rid of the CRX.)

Thanks dude! Two warm welcomes after confessing I'm a kid. This is awesome! Thanks guys! I think I'm gunna go to Barnes and Noble and get a dummies guide to engines or something. Any book suggestions on learning how to be awesome with cars. I know handson is probobly the best way but i certainly do not have that option.

Not too sure what books to suggest you to, I've pretty much learned from hands on and I have learned quite a bit from hanging around on here.

Awesome thanks dude. My friend bought a '9? Supra about two months ago and he had a lot of fixing up to do... but his friend offered him a place in his apartment in the city(Philly) so he sold the supra and bought a nice BMX bike. I planned on installing a sterio and he was gunna teach me engine basics... but that never happened. I'm gunna see if there is a place that could teach me stuff on the weekends.

Man, I just realized I have a lot on my plate this year.
School, study Japanese. Get all this paper work in for the Youth Exchange. Engine basics. Oh well its all stuff i like! I'm pretty excited!

Re: Hey guys, I'm new!

Now if you were older I would say that you could probably get an appenticeship at a carbody/ mechanic shop. But since your only 14 really doubt they would let ya. other than that just try to get your nose into your friends cars when there working on them.

Yea I talked to the dude who owns the AutoBody shop about 5 minutes into town and he said I was just to young. It would almost be a liability I assume, to have someone as young and tiny as me working in a car shop.

Sadly most of my friends are going to college in a few weeks. Most of my friends are older... some even in their early 20's. Allthough my friend Jer knows a lot about cars. I just thought of that. Hmm I'll see if he can teach me some stuff!

Re: Hey guys, I'm new!

Being young has its advantages and then its disadvantages. Your right its pretty much a liability thing and then again I'm sure alot of people will see that your a young kid and think your just to immature or whatever to do something like that.

I think they only good thing about being young is that you don't have to pay taxes. Thats about it.
