2G bomex lip on a 1g?

Guys. Most of you 1G owners know that the Kaze 1G lip is kinda hard to find (ie, it's not on E-Bay), and on-line stores that do carry it ask around $250 for the thing.

I was just wondering, if anyone has tried to retrofit this common 2G lip onto their 1Gs, or if you folks think it can be done? Some cutting and bolting will be required, ofcourse, but what do you think?

Any input would be appreciated.

i dont think it would be too hard at all. The only place where i see an issue is the vents in front of the front wheel. Nothing a little cutting and/or fiberglas work cant fix. Other than that, looks pretty close to me. Wouldnt suprize me if there would be some minor fiberglas work needed in the front too though...small gaps, etc...specifically around the IC intakes

If it were that easy someone would have done it long ago. The bottom lip area of the 1g and 2g bumpers are differently shaped. It just wouldnt work period.

Never said it was going to be that easy; some hacking will need to be done for sure. I don't think anyone has really tried...just the fact that you don't see a lot of 1G GTs around, and very few of those are ever modded, I doubt anyone ever seriously looked into it. Considering the lip is only $75 and shipped from locations in L.A., I can do a pick-up and save on shipping. I have to get my GT painted anyways, so I thought I should at least try to retrofit this thing, regardless. ABS plastic should be a heck of a lot easier to cut than the bouncy urethane.

Also, I've noticed that there are a lot of people that retrofit completely different lips onto their cars. E.g., I saw a 1G Eclipse with a nice looking lip on it. Asked the guy about it, and he told me it was from a 2G Integ.

I'm gonna give it a shot. It may be a nice little visual mod for all the 1G owners out there, you never know. May the Force be with me.

^ I don't know where you live, but I see gen. 1 3000's all the time, and rarely see gen. 2's.

take some pics of the process for us. If it turns out to be a success, im sure a lot of 1st gen owners will be interested in what work needs to be done....

its different for me. im in washington (seattle-ish) and i see more 2nd gens but very few are vr4s. id say maybe a quarter of them are vr4s but then id say a little less than half of the 1g's i see here are vr4s.
