Re: Transmission is toast

Hello

Too bad you are not closer to KY. I got one laying on the floor on my shop from a 93 TC that I keep tripping over. I don't know the condition since the engine of the car was locked up that it came from. The car was suposed to have ran good and was being driven up untill it was wrecked. The trans looks to have been rebuilt recently. I would use it if I needed one,it's probally fine.

Your best bet, (the cheepest route) would be to pull the trans your self and take it to a trans shop and have it bench overhauled. Make sure to remove your plastic spedo. gear so it dosen't get lost at the trans shop. It's hard to find the right one after the original goes missing trust me.

Re: Transmission is toast

The trans I have is the AODE I think. I would make every effort to get the exact same trans for a replacement. It wouuld make things easier, if you didn't have to go through all the retro fiting from a different trans. If your TC is a 94 you definately don't want that old AOD with the TV cable set up. Those transmissions are pre 92 ish. You don't want an old c4 or c6 either. What did they give you a choice of ? On a used trans make sure you check the fluid to see if it's dark or smells burnt, same with the torque converter. I can look up the trans in my Hollander book and see what will work.

Re: Transmission is toast

I just looked it up They are listing four different transmissions. They are calling all four of them 4R70W. I don't know what all the differences are but I did notice that two of them had a 19 teeth driven gear on the output shaft. The other two had 18 teeth. You would want to make sure you got one that fit your driveshaft. It looks like your trans is specific to the 94 according to hollander.

Re: Transmission is toast

Just for kicks I looked at the numbers on my trans. tonight. There are some cast numbers on the left side RF-F4AP-7006-AA and a metal tag on the right side PKC-N F3AP-CA 0078266. Both about mid section. This is a great forum, isn't ? So much good information from people who know thier stuff. Us Lincoln owners stick together. My TC is a Cartier as well.

Re: Transmission is toast

Yes I love that silver, not so crazy about thre two tone grey on the bottom. My bumper covers look kind of cruddy, so I am going to have them repainted silver as well as the bottom half, so the car is all silver. I am going to do that in the next month or so and rotate in to the mix of daily drivers. I will have to change my avatar pic, once I get a beter pic of the car. You should create an avatar pic of your car. You just have to down size the pic really small to get it to fit.
That's a same about your lights being stolen. Hopefully they didn't tear up anything in the process. I don't have any of those lights currently. I hate to say it, but you might be able to find something at that evil monster of a company e bay.

sorry it took so long to get back but from what I am reading in this post it looks like you will be able to find a transmission for your car. just in case though, i found the business card of the place where i took one of my old work trucks to get a transmission job done on it. here is the information:

Kenco Automatic Transmission, Inc.
4523-25 Lancaster Ave.
Philadelphia, PA, 19131

i took one of my old cars there about 3 years ago and they did an excellent job on it. i sold it to a friend of mine and he still has the car with no problems with the transmission. good luck
