Unhappy Radio Problems

My radio on my 95 TC won't let me preset the stations,I have the owners manual and just won't do it.Also when the headlights are turnes on it start scanning the channels and won't stop.
One more thing my front springs squeak really bad,I just greased the fittings but haven't had a chance to see if it has helped.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

^ This is very strange... Is that an aftermarket HU or the OEM? My 2nd thought on this, besides having a bad HU, is a possible voltage problem -- bad grounds, dirty connections, low charging / battery. A voltage test before and during your 'headlights on' test would be useful knowledge. Should read 14+ with the engine running.

After all the suspension links are lubed (some don't have lube fittings) or replaced, you may still get squeaks from bad ball joints, bad control arm bushings, and even the seats where the springs meet the control arms... you can use a spray lube in these odd places to see if that's where the squeak is coming from.

Ok, if it's the OEM Radio, more commonly referred to as HU (head unit) due to the popularity of external components ie seperate Amp, EQ, Tape palyers, CD changers, etc.....

You really need to be sure the voltage / charging system / battery / cable connections are in good condition. Battery should be a bit over 14volts with the engine running, check it again with the headlights on.

The HU needs >12 volts to operate, and may act speratic if it drops below 12v.
If the voltage is fine, the HU may be shot.

Do you have the same problem with the engine off and key in Acc position?

Re: Radio Problems

It works fine as far as keeping on the same station w/o the lights on so it sounds like what you are talking about may be the problem.
