attempting to stall

i recently pluged in my p28 ecu and i noticed that when ever down shifting into second gear the oil and battery lights come on as if the car has stalled, but it never stalled out can anyone diagnose this problem. also my vtec is not hooked up as yet. could it be my clutch or tranny going out on me?
