Please tell me I don't need a new motor! My temp gage has been running hot a little past the 210 mark for about a month when the temp gauge would start to go up I would put antifreeze in it. Also the cat was making a real bad noise could the heat from the cat being stopped up have caused the temp gauge to go up? I was on my way home yesterday and got stopped in traffic the temp gauge flew from 210 to 260 and the car would barley go 30 mph it got so hot at one time it shut off on me. after sitting for a minute it started back and I managed to get it 5 miles to my house. I put water in it after it cooled and it started fine so I drove it around the block if was fine for the first 3 or 4 miles then started running hot and stalling got it back home engine was sizzling after it cooled checked oil and if was full of water/coolant. Do you think the motor is ruined or could I possible get a miriacle and it just be the intake gasket? (The motor will still start)

It is hard to say.
But do not drive it untill you get it checked out and repaired.
But it does need some proper testing to find the problem.
Are you going to DIY it or take it in for repair?

I am going to take it in for repair just trying to come up with the money first. A friend told me if it was the intake gaskets it wouldn't be to bad but if it's the motor it may not even be worth fixing considering what I owe on it.

Well good Luck.
Just tell them what it did and ask them to check it over good before they repair it.

I had a similar problem in my old Avenger. I ended up replacing the water pump, and the timing chain (the chain had nothing to do with the problem,just replaced it cause the front end of the engine was off and it had almost 95k on the old one) and also replaced the thermostat. Everything was good after that, maybe a similar problem for you. Might be worth looking into.

I would guess a head gasket is a possibility also. If there is a lot of water in the oil, do not drive it, you will ruin the bearings (water is not a good lubricant.) Also, if it will sit for any length of time before doing repairs, change the oil to get that water out of there so that the bearings don't rust. This is all assuming the engine isn't already shot from driving it while it was overheated. If that is the case, look for a whole new engine from a sakvage yard. If yours needs a lot of repairs, a replacement motor will likely be cheaper.

Do not even start this engine again. When you checked the oil, Was the "oil" level really high on the dipstick and did it look like chocolate milk on the dipstick?

While you're saving up your money for the repairs, You need to drain the oil/water out of this engine immediately. Do not let this oil/water mixture remain in your engine.

Tow this truck into the garage, do not try to drive it. You may need head gaskets, or intake manifold gaskets or both. Only time will tell if you ruined the engine, unless you heard some serious knocking, you just might get lucky.

Please do not try to start this engine again. every time you do, you will increase your changes of having to replace the engine.

chevy has problems with water pumps. ive done so many of them. they leak on the inside and it drips out of a hole in the housing. the problem with auto trans is the cooler runs with the radiator. when your engine runs hot the trans runs hotter then it should, which will make is shift and drive different (like a safe guard). i would change your water pump, they say when u change that you should change your thermostat and your radiator cap. i never really change the thermostat cause ive bought bad ones then its a bigger hassel to do the job more then once but its up to you. i would also change the oil too just to make sure there is no coolent in it. i just did one that sounded like it had the same problems and it was fine after
