Front Motor Mount Installation

I got a bad motor mount on my '01 LeSabre.

If you're standing at the front of the car looking at its nose, it's the one on the front right.

It looks simple enough, three bolts on the bracket, and the one long one on the mount itself.

I've never done this before, so please give me any tips on how to do this.

I figure I need to get a good floor jack and lift the engine up a couple of inches. I will use jack stands as well, for safety.

Other than that, I guess just then remove the bolts from the bracket first, and then the mount?

Thanks,

Phil

Phil

Make sure you use a block of wood between your jack and the oil pan so you don't dent it. Also, becareful how high you jack the motor up as not to break anything/or pull on any wires.

It sounds like you have a good idea of how to proceed.

Regards

Dan

Re: Front Motor Mount Installation

Do these mounts typically fail? Is there a reason it failed besides mileage and wear?

Re: Front Motor Mount Installation

The left front transmission mount is the one that takes the brunt of the engine torque when you accelerate from a standstill. Hard acceleration will contribute to their failure! Be careful what brand replacements you use. My car will break an “Anchor” brand mount in a few days! I use only Pioneer or GM replacement mounts.

:15millionsign:

You know what I found with the Anchor ones, is they fail moslty on transaxle downshift to pass over directly off the line powerplant movement.
