Lightbulb 92 prelude speakers

just wondering what size the door speakers are. I want to replace them. Rather not take the door pannel off twice because it is a pain. im guessing a 6.5 but could be wrong.

thanks

6 1/2 on the front, on the back u can use 4x9 and If u don't have tweeter...try to get one..it makes the sound a lot better.

Re: 92 prelude speakers

i have a 94, and I have the tweeters up in front in line with the dash cluster. Do the 92's have those too, because in know u guys don't have the same center consoles? ALSO when u take the front door speakers out...

There is a black plastic speaker housing. Its 4 screws to take it out, but take it out and make sure ur new speaker fits inside that thing.
I just put a 6.5 component setup in and I had to hack at that mofo with a dremel for almost an hour. The bottom of the magnet wouldn't fit so i had to cut a whole big enough in the black plastic housing that attaches to the door. Then the spyder arms on the speaker wouldn't sit into the housing flush, so again I used the dremel for atleast another 1/2 hour to cut down the inner part of the top. But now all is loud and it rattles my door from the bass. We also used a hole cutter and did a flush mount tweeter just below the door handle inside.

Re: 92 prelude speakers

Ya there are tweeters in there.....The dash is basically the same i have a buddy with a 94SI and they are almost identical except for the center console with the ebrake positioning and i have an extra console that extends to the back seat.....u should get some sound deadner for your door i hear that it really helps and it is fairly cheap its about a dollar a square foot so 8 sq ft would cover your door then some......

Re: 92 prelude speakers

I used to have a 92 si and the dash (including the tweeters) is exactly the same as my 96 VTEC. And I miss the extra long center console. There's no room to put anything in these cars.

On topic: Try the Crutchfield or Sounddomain websites, they'll show you what'll fit and what won't fit in a Prelude.
