I'm having the same problem. I also noticed that once this started to happen, my air conditioner was no longer cold after awhile so I'm guessing it ran out of freeon (sp?). I was thinking that the "water" was freeon possibly?? A little help would be appreciated though! Thanks.

One of the first things to check is the drain pipe andor/flipper valve on the end of drain pipe.
What year?
Does it drain sitting still? Or just after a long drive?
Is the AC still cooling good?
Locate drain and see if you can blow back threw it with compressed air.
Then watch it for water drainage.
Also check cabin filter if you have one or for outside water running into cowl area.

Re: Air Conditioner leaking water inside!

I hae no Idea what could cause that, very interesting. But I do know that if the liquid is indeed freeon, you should NOT be driving your car, or be inside of it for that matter (I am pretty sure freeon is a pretty bad carsinogen, i may be wrong though).

Re: Air Conditioner leaking water inside!

fact.

R134a which is available in all cars after 1995 is not an ozone depleting gas.

fact.

R134a evaporates at a very high rate, therefore it wouldn't be r134a that is dripping in your car.

fact.

R134a is very fun to pop open a can and freeze things with.

I would honestly pay someone to fix it. it doesn't sound like a problem that can be diagnosed easily or fixed easily, but it is likely you sprung a leak in your AC vent.

If you decide to use a "stop leak" thing on your A/C you can cause your compressor to go bad very quickly

R12 is the dangerous refrigerant and cannot be bought without a mechanic's license

R134a is easily available and i have a can of it sitting next to my monitor. they go for b/t 8 and 10$ a can and 2 cans should fill your air conditioning system. R134a does not cool as quickly as R12 but is a much safer alternative. BMW uses a CO2 based system (at least in europe) which does not work very well.

It would be a good idea to check freon pressure and make sure it is full of freon.
Have a look at cabin filter if it has one,
Also work on that drain.
If it only does it after a long drive may be a drain setup problem.

Re: Air Conditioner leaking water inside!

You can check out club 3g and find the problem there (google it I don't want to post a link on a different forum ;D)

I saw 5-6 people there with the problem, either A, your AC run off has a leak or its disconnected, take your plastic dash pieces off and find the tube that runs from your AC down, unlike the actual AC tubes it will pop right off, it will probably be discounnected in which just hook it back up, else you can get an official replacement from mistubishi dealer or find something at a hardware store for $2. I used a piece of a garden hose when I fixed it in my dodge.

I actual used a garden hose for multiple things in my dodge ;D Ghetto rigged! ;D
