hello there new z24 2002

Hi there guys I just purchased a 2002 z24, tried out and, it seems to go all ok. I did notice tho that the temp gage will climb a little over the half mark when on idle.. also notice that there was a noise on the front right, possibly a top-plate on my front shock. But all in all its in perfect condition. Mind telling me why the temp goes a little past the half way mark ?? Also can somone tell me if my car has a timming chain or timming belt ?? My motor is a 2.2 ecotec.

thanks
